Mr. Ransome is the engraver and owner of Awards Engraving Company. He has been in the engraving business for 30 years. After spending 6 years in the military he attended business college with an emphasis on computer operations. Upon leaving business school in 1974, Mr. Ransome took an apprentice position with a well-established printing and engraving company in Washington D.C. that had been in operation for nearly 100 years.

The resident engraver for that company recognized Mr. Ransome's potential and took him under his wing, intent on teaching the young man all he could. Under this gentleman's tutelage for the next five years, Mr. Ransome gained the knowledge and skill in pantograph, hand engraving, and the engraving and finishing of heavy brass signs for indoors or outdoors. He was thoroughly trained in handwork, and he still possesses all this knowledge and skill. It is evident in the way he approaches any order and in the way that order is executed. No engraving leaves the shop unless Mr. Ransome is personally pleased with what has been done. Although hand engraving is rarely done today, the background knowledge gives Mr. Ransome an expertise not many engravers have.

Mr. Ransome worked for two engraving companies in Washington D.C. for a total of 20 years. Ten years ago he went into business for himself creating Awards Engraving Company. His engraving skills are excellent. He knows all aspects of his business very well. He is creative, imaginative, and innovative. He keeps abreast of the latest techniques and equipment. Awards Engraving Company now has a laser engraving machine, and the engraving possibilities are endless.

Mr. Ransome is community minded. He engraves for sporting leagues, schools, churches, and other organizations. He works within prescribed budgets whenever possible.
